I think the best thing about autumn is the changing of the leaves and the different colours that I see on the trees and on the ground when I’m out on my morning walk. This necklace was inspired by leaves, that I collected one morning out on a walk with Charlie my dog. 
 
That day I picked up a variety of leaves, each with their unique colours and patterns. 
patterns, I felt inspired by the ivy leaves as I loved their stylised heart shape and patchwork patterns.  
 
I came back to the studio and started designing, Although I didn’t want to make it just green a green necklace so with a bit of artistic license, I created a design that included a bright autumnal palette using my favorite neon leather too.
 
This necklace is fastened with a wide double sided satin ribbon, the ribbon allows you to adjust the necklace to whatever length you wish secured with bow. The ribbons are tipped with a leather heart making the back of the necklace as much of a feature as the front.
 
I make small batches of my designs, so I only made four of this design.
 
Each piece of leather is cut by hand and meticulously fitted together using my unique leather marquetry technique. Once all the leather pieces are assembled, I stitch them together using my trusty companion, 'Gerty', a 1960's Pfaff rolling-foot sewing machine. Finally, I add the finishing touches to bring the piece to life.
