I love birds and I love using them in my work. I previously made a necklace called Sweetie Tweetie, when asked if I would consider making another bird necklace, I didn’t want to just remake the pattern, but to use it as inspiration to create a new design. This time, I thought it would be lovely to make a double bird necklace, with two Love Birds both holding a love letter in their beaks as a symbol of their love for each other. 
 
As these two love birds are inspired by swallows, they also have a hidden symbolic meaning of loyalty, hope, freedom and love.

This necklace is made from lovely shades of pink, blue and purple leather. Each piece of leather is cut by hand and meticulously fitted together using my unique leather marquetry technique. Once all the leather pieces are assembled, I stitch them together using my trusty companion, 'Gerty', a 1960's Pfaff rolling-foot sewing machine. Finally, I add the finishing touches to bring the piece to life.
